[history]
October 1, 2003 -- Fuming U.N. diplomats are trying to find ways around a plan to ban smoking at the organization's East Side headquarters. Several delegates, led by Costa Rica and Russia, yesterday questioned the legal basis for U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan to order a smoking ban without a vote from member states.

I might've known Annan would buy into all that phony "second hand smoke research."

U.N. headquarters, which lacks a sprinkler system. Interesting tidbit, that.

I've already had 6 cups and half a pack of smokes. Goodness! Your devout! How early did you get UP? Or did you even go to bed?
Can you imagine the Europeans not being able to smoke at the UN???? I was mind boggled when BloomingIdiot made New York CITY smoke free. It was on the front page of the Japanese Newspaper about it. And the Japanese businessmen were wondering where they could go in the U.S. to hold their meetings and still be able to smoke.
BloomingIdiot has ruined New York City..........

.....thanks Kattracks, this is a funny article.......anybody wanna bet what brands those anti-American UN folks are smoking?......bet it ain't Gauloise......Marlboro Reds more than likely.......I remember in the late 60s during Vietnam, ol' HoChiMinh was a very heavy smoker.....his favorite brand you ask?......Salems!....hey, why let a little thing like a war get in the way of a good smoke?

I get up at 4:30 am 7 days a week. I don't go to bed before 12:00 am to 1:00 am. I have done this since I was 12. I don't have to be at work til 8 but get here at 6. That way while everyone else struggle I goof off.

Guess the Marxist and fascist dictators don't like it when a UN dictator tells them what to do. It's so human. Bet the lesson is totally lost on these fools.

Annan and Bloomberg deserve eachother.
The more these idiots are against smoking the more I want to smoke. Maybe it's "the fight or flight" syndrome and I'm not fleeing.
I think the biggest shock I had recently was when I learned that Ireland was going "smoke-free" It was a great country once but now that Ireland is in the EU it's become a bit "full of itself" as my Irish mother-in-law used to say.
I E-mailed the Irish Tourist Bureau telling them I'll never visit their country again if the non-smoking law goes into effect.Needless to say,I received no reply.

He says his smoking is a political statement.
We didn't move out of Delaware because of the smoking ban there, but it sure didn't do anything to make us change our mind about leaving that state.

Annan will back down. He's used to issuing orders and then sitting on them. Sort of like weapons of mass destruction.
